"Artist's house" is located in the historic center of Sampieri, a fishing village (the ancient Port of San Pietro), further south of Tunis.
Sampieri is now a destination for elite tourism and is often the setting for various film productions, such as "Il Commissario Montalbano" (the Fornace del Pisciotto, which dominates the beautiful bay, is the "Mannera" in the television series and, even on Monte San Michele street, some scenes were filmed).
The Fisherman's House and Stone House have been completely renovated while maintaining their original style. Like Casazzurra, they are located 25-30 meters from the sea (swimmable), on the street parallel to the promenade. There is no sea view from the houses, but it is sufficient to take a few steps to be on the shore and be able to swim.
The coast includes both a low cliff and a two-kilometer-long beach with fine sand and very rare dunes that give the impression of being in Africa. There are several well-equipped establishments, but also the possibility of a free beach.
A short distance from the house there are supermarkets, bakeries, barbers, hairdressers, beauticians, newsstands, restaurants, pizzerias, bars, discos, ice cream parlors, meeting places, free beaches and two equipped beaches, pine forests, wellness centers and sports fields.
A few kilometers away, it is possible to visit the cities of Modica, Scicli, Ragusa Ibla, Ispica, Noto, which are part of the UNESCO World Heritage, the natural reserves of Irminio and Vendicari, and the quarries of Ispica.
Cities such as Syracuse, Militello in Val di Catania, Palazzolo Acreide, Caltagirone, Catania, Taormina, Piazza Armerina, Agrigento can be reached in a day, as well as Mount Etna with the possibility of guided tours to the volcano and the island of Malta with a catamaran service from the port of Pozzallo.
The Comiso airport is 62 km away, which can be reached in 55 minutes.
The Catania airport is 129 km away, which can be reached in about 1 hour and 40 minutes*.
It is a holiday recommended for those who want particular tranquility in a place that has maintained the characteristics of a fishing village. Every day, boats with freshly caught fish arrive at the harbor.
*ITINERARY FROM THE CATANIA AIRPORT:
From the airport, take the Siracusa-Gela highway and exit at Rosolini. Head towards Rosolini-Ispica-Pozzallo-Marina di Modica-Sampieri.
Alternatively, from the airport, enter the SS 194 towards Ragusa. After Ragusa, continue on SS 514 towards Modica, then Pozzallo. Before reaching Pozzallo, at viaduct no. 32, turn left for Sampieri following the signs for the coastal road. Once you reach the entrance of the village, at the roundabout, turn left onto via Carignano (historic center).
Turn left on the 4th cross street (via Pasubio), go all the way and arrive at via Monte San Michele n° 6, where, previously notified by phone, you will find Mrs. Concetta who takes care of the reception.
